oa South African Medical Journal - Two cases of torula meningitis with special reference to the laboratory findings*



An account is given of two cases of torula infection of the central nervous system. They occured in the Port Elizabeth district within a little over two years. The signs and symptoms suggested tuberculous meningitis, and the correct diagnosis of the first case was only made after autopsy. The second case was recognized by the morphological and cultural character of the yeast cells found in the cerebrospinal fluid.
