All scalp wounds must be very carefully attended to. Open type of head injury demands immediate operation for prevention of sepsis and removal of bone, etc. Closed type of head injury requires careful observation, and operation is only to be performed if compression from extradural or subdural haemorrhage occurs. Dehydration has a definite role in the treatment of head injury.
