Abstract

A child who presents the clinical features suggestive of pertussis in the catarrhal stage should have a differential count done at the earliest possible moment. If the lymphocytes number over 55 per cent. A diagnosis of whooping cough may be made with reasonable confidence and a course of pertussis vaccine started without delay.
