*This investigation was carried out under the auspices of the Medical Graduate Association of the University of the Witwatersrand. 431 proven cases of tuberculosis were admitted to the Non-European Hospital, Johannesburg. It is considered that economic factors are in large part responsible for the high incidence and the increase in tuberculosis among the non-Europeans.
Reasons are given for the unsatisfactory state of knowledge concerning the chief clinical features of the menstrual cycle. The clinical features of menstruation are correlated with the physical properties of the ovaries throughout reproductive life.
