Abstract

Seven cases of pedunculated thrombi in the first part of the aorta are reported. Six thrombi occluded one or other of the coronary orifices and one thrombus detached itself and blocked the right carotid artery. Syphilitic aortitis accounted for four case, atheroma for two case, and atheroma with underlying syphilitic change for one case. One per cent. of sudden death from cardiac disease is from coronary embolism.
