oa South African Medical Journal - Relapsing fever in Graaff-Reinet*

 

Abstract

*Paper read at Port Elizabeth Divisional meeting of Cape Midlands Branch. The house in the Graaff-Reinet and Adendorp locations are more or less heavily infested with the Ornithodorus moubata ticks and a proportion of these ticks are infected with the spirochaetes of relapsing fever. Recommendations are made with regard to the elimination of ticks from the dwelling-houses in the locations and with regard to the effective medical and nursing attention of sufferers.
