Prolonged administration is advocated, e.g. two to three months. The case reported, received 2,946,000 units during a period of three months. The drug should be continued for a considerable time after the temperature has settled, the patient is asymptomatic, the blood-count is normal, the blood-culture negative and the sedimentation rate is restored to within normal limits. The last-mentioned feature should not be overlooked. The response in this case has been very gratifying. The patient has been afebrile for four months. He feels in excellent health, and is fit to resume his civil occupation. He has put on 22 Ibs. in weight. His blood-picture and sedimentation rate are normal.
