Abstract

This report is based upon a series of 32 cases of pilonidal sinus, and a review of the literature. The embryological features are reviewed, and the different theories of origin are discussed. General aetiological factors are descriptionbed under the headings of incidence, age, hereditary factor, trauma and infection, and this is followed by a review of the clinical features, pathology and treatment. The findings in the present series are compared with those reported in the literature.
