oa South African Medical Journal - Schistosomiasis in Southern Africa in its relation to the pollution of river-pools

Abstract

Careful study of efforts in various countries to eliminate schistosomiasis leads to the conclusion that the best results are obtained by skilful use of the potassium and lithium salts of antimony for the eradication of the adult parasites in man, complete cure of all carriers of infection, avoidance of the pollution of river banks with human excreta containing ova, and, where necessary, the addition of lime to these banks.
