oa South African Medical Journal - Typhus fever in the Eastern Transvaal, with special reference to an epidemic occurring in 1945
Abstract
Typhus fever frequently affects the African population of the highveld of the Eastern Transvaal. Outbreaks involving several cases are reported almost every year. With the wide and controlled use of D.D.T., or some similar insecticide, there is every reason to hope that louse-borne typhus fever will be eradicated from the Eastern Transvaal, as well as from other areas of South Africa, where for long it has been a prevalent disease.
