Abstract

The chief features of kemithal as an agent for intravenous anaesthesia in the Bantu are:- the levels of surgical anaesthesia are reached with practically no depression of resprratIon. There is a remarkable absence of laryngospasm. Toxicity of kemithal is less than with other comparable agents. The rate of venous thrombosis is higher than with pentothal or soluble thiopentone.
