Abstract

*A paper read to the Salisbury Branch of the British Medical Association, Salisbury, Southern Rhodesia. The need for skilful treatment in minor rectal conditions is stressed, in view of the widespread distress caused by the lesions and the bad reputation operations in this area have among the public. The anatomy of the ano-rectal canal is descriptionbed, and the features of the physiology stated. Haemorrhoids, fistulo-in-ano, and fissure-in-ano, are descriptionbed and the treatment outlined. The pre-operative treatment common to all three conditions is descriptionbed.
