oa South African Medical Journal - Tick-borne relapsing fever on the Witwatersrand gold mines : its treatment with aureomycin

 

Abstract

A descriptionption of tick-borne relapsing fever as it occurs on the Witwatersrand Gold Mines is given. The effect of various drugs in the treatment of the disease is assessed. The treatment of 25 cases with aureomycin appears to indicate a spirochaeticidal effect on the Spirochaeta duttoni.
