oa South African Medical Journal - Cortisone in eye disease : three case reports

Three cases of eye disease are descriptionbed where Cortisone had dramatic effects. In two cases the Cortisone was applied by local instillation only and I feel that in all the cases local administration had the most marked effect. I cannot draw any conclusions about the mode of action of this drug but it would appear that it penetrates through the cornea to act on the uveal tract. There was no effect on the size of the pupil when a mydriatic drug was not used.
