oa South African Medical Journal - Chronic typhoid urinary carrier cured with chloromycetin

 

Abstract

The urine of a chronic typhoid carrier. tested on 104 occasions over a period of one year, yielded positive results on 76 specimens. Thirty-six grammes of Chloromycetin were given over a period of one week (after a course of odium antimony tartrate for concurrent urinary bilharziasis). Two hundred subsequent daily urine specimen examined over a period of 5 1/2 month since the cessation of treatment, all yielded negative results for B. typhosus.
