oa South African Medical Journal - Carcinoma of the cervix in late pregnancy : report of an advanced case

This case is an example of how a false, positive, radiological diagnosis of placenta praevia was made in the presence of an advanced carcinoma of the cervix during pregnancy. A further argument is advanced for the routine exposure of the cervix in all pregnant patients where there is vaginal bleeding, regardless of any other tentative diagnosis than that of carcinoma of the cervix. A method of treating the uterus to avoid spread of sepsis, following classical caesarean section in the presence of carcinoma of the cervix during late pregnancy, is descriptionbed.
