oa South African Medical Journal - Vulval condyloma accuminata as a premalignant lesion in the Bantu
Of 11 vulval carcinomata occurring in 4 years at Baragwanath Hospital, 4 occurred in pre-existing condyloma accuminata. There seems to be a special tendency for this type of growth to involve the buttock. No similar cases were seen amongst Europeans at the General Hospital. It seems, therefore, that in the Bantu, at least, condyloma accuminata must be regarded as potentially malignant and an important aetiological factor of carcinoma of the vulva. We were unable to find references to similar vulval cases in the literature. (Since the compilation of this paper a similar case to those descriptionbed above was treated by Dr. A. Culiner at the Boksburg-Benoni Hospital.)
