oa South African Medical Journal - The danger of decomposed paraldehyde

Abstract

Although the dangers of deteriorated paraldehyde should be fully appreciated, there should be no objection to the use of fresh paraldehyde, dispensed in the quantity required, or in ampoules. It should, however, be a fixed rule that paraldehyde should never be used when it has been 'standing on the shelf' for any length of time.
