Age- and sex-specific mortality rates for ischaemic heart disease (IHD) of White South Africans for 1970 were higher, especially in the younger age groups, than the rates in the USA and Finland, countries with known high IHD mortality rates, and Sweden, a country with a low IHO mortality rate.
