Abstract

Effective management is often related to emotional intelligence. The emotional intelligence of managers may relate to their personality characteristics. The objective of this study was to assess the relationship between emotional intelligence and personality preferences. A cross-sectional design was used. The study population consisted of Management students at a business school (N = 71). The Bar-On Emotional Quotient Inventory (EQ-i) and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) were used as measuring instruments. The results showed that there is a significant relationship between emotional intelligence and preferences for Extraversion, Intuition, Feeling and Perception.
