This study investigated the relationship between family-friendly human resource policies and practices (FFHRPs) and organisational commitment. Three aspects of FFHRPs were measured (i.e. knowledge, use and perceived value) as were three components of organisational commitment (affective, continuance and normative commitment). Survey responses from randomly selected employees in a large multinational company were collected using an online survey (n = 146; response rate = 65%). After examining the psychometric properties of the scales, hierarchical multiple regression analysis was utilised to address the research propositions. The results suggest that the way in which employees value particular FFHRPs explains significant variance in affective commitment to the organisation but not to other components of commitment. Implications for research and practice are discussed.
