Influence is achieved in many different ways. The two which most are aware of are manipulation and intimidation, but there are many more. To achieve motivationally satisfying work relationships requires open, honest two way communication where the parties interact as equals. The reference to 'equal' here refers to being equally entitled to our constitutional and other legal rights and to being treated with dignity and respect irrespective of rank or station.
