Much has been said about what employee engagement is. This topic is now more relevant than ever in the face of continues uncertainty and the changing environment. Engagement in the workplace can be defined as the feeling of an employee which he or she displays through a heightened emotional connection that creates greater discretionary effort in his or her work (Conference Board 2006). In simple terms engagement in an employee is evident when he or she is enjoying the job and performing within and beyond expectation.
