n South African Gastroenterology Review - Cholecystocutaneous fistula : case report

This is a rare case report of spontaneous cholecystocutaneous fistula (SCF) due to calculous biliary disease. The patient presented with a right upper quadrant sinus draining mucus and bile. Computer tomography (CT) confirmed a large subcutaneous gallstone and adherence of the fundus of the gallbladder to the anterior abdominal wall. An operative excision of the fistula and cholecystectomy was performed. A review of the literature confirms only 59 cases reported in the past 54 years.
