Looking into anesthesia depths esthesia came from John Snow in London (1847) who also introduced the idea of monitoring his unconscious patients. The best-known description of Anesthesia Depth is in the (four) stages of anesthesia offered by Guedel in the USA, that was used first during WWI (1917 - 1918).
