celebrated its first anniversary in December 2011, following a year of speculation about the newspaper as an ANC mouthpiece (an accusation it has vehemently opposed) and attacks from various detractors. However, Editor Ryland Fisher says, "The fact that we are still standing strong and growing stronger by the week, is a testament to the hard work put in by the staff of over the past year. Many, if not most, of the staff that started out with us are still with us today, again testimony to their commitment to growing an independent media voice."
