It is questionable whether the discussion of the above subject along traditional missiological lines is still desirable. The question is not whether the problematic situation of ineffective communication of Christian doctrinal material to Africa has ceased to exist; in fact, if the final aim of catechetical training is to ensure that its contents will eventually form a positive and effective basis for the'church member's life of faith, then certainly the disconcerting absence of this result makes further thought on the subject a matter of urgency.
