In order to articulate the manifold ramifications of the above assertion it would be appropriate begin with a comment made by Willem Saayman in the context of his call for the transformation of the South African Missiological Society (SAMS), In a document circulated to members on this subject, Saayman put forward a ""foundational question"" as follows: ""What should our broad definition of missiology be so as to include people from various Christian traditions and convictions?""
