There is no doubt that one burning issue in contemporary theology is the problem of developing a relevant theological hermeneutic. Today when we talk about contextualisation we are actually wrestling with the problem of hermeneutics - one which takes our historical context very seriously. There are many types of contextual theologies, e.g. Liberation Theology, African/Black Theology, Red Theology, which are all attempts to formulate a relevant theological hermeneutic.
