Abstract

As soon as the Cape was discovered the Portuguese and all the nations which followed them, abandoned the method of creeping along the coast. followed them, abandoned the method of creeping along the ooast. They sailed down the South Atlantic and at latitude 34 degrees they turned eastward. If after sailing eastward for some time they failed to sight land, they turned northward and so found the Cape.
