Extracted from text ... 181 december 2005 A team of Polish archaeologists announced their discovery of the grave of Nicolaus Copernicus (1473-1543) of heliocentric theory fame. His remains were uncovered beneath the floor of a medieval cathedral in Frombork on Poland's Baltic coast. He had been buried under one of 16 altars on the south side of the building, said Prof Jerzy Gassowski, head of the archaeology and anthropology institute in Pultusk.
