Extracted from text ... 67 april 2005 On 01 January 2004 the University of South Africa merged with Technikon SA (TSA) and the distance education unit of Vista University (Vudec) to form a new tertiary education institute for distance education in South Africa. The names of sections within the new institute changed, but the name for the institute has remained Unisa. Faculties have been replaced by Colleges and a new division called Schools have been formed within the Colleges.
