Abstract

Molluscum contagiosum can occur in children worldwide and is caused by a pox virus. A typical molluscum lesion is a dome-shaped, flesh-coloured papule, 2-6mm across, with a pearly appearance and a dimple in the centre of the bump, confined to the skin and mucous membranes. The lesions mainly appear on the face, trunk and extremities.
