Cervical cancer remains a major health concern worldwide, especially in developing countries. It is the commonest malignancy among black women in South Africa. The quoted incidence of cervical cancer is approximately 30/100 000 women. Mortality is higher in developing countries, mainly due to the lack of availability of screening and late-stage presentation.
