What are "normal" bowel movements? Some people might consider not having a bowel movement every day as abnormal while, for others, once a week is acceptable. Many people believe that the definition of a normal bowel movement is having one movement each day, but that is not true for everyone. There is no rule for frequency of bowel movements, but the general range is from three times a day to three times a week. Less than three movements a week may indicate constipation, while more than three watery stools a day may indicate diarrhoea.
