Abstract

Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is a water-soluble vitamin necessary for normal growth and development. Water-soluble vitamins are not stored by the body and a continuous supply is needed in the diet to avoid deficiency. On the other hand, excess intake is also not stored by the body and is simply excreted in the urine.
