SA Pharmaceutical Journal - May 2006 12 Drug ALERT Oral decongestant use during pregnancy A recently published large epidemiological study in 4213 women has found no association between the use of oral decongestant medicines in pregnancy and an increased risk of malformations. Between 1995 and the end of 2002, pregnant women who had used an oral decongestant, mainly phenylpropanolamine, were identified.
