The Department of Health has published the Pricing Committees' proposed fee structure in the Government Gazette for comment that closed in August, and so the wait began. The draft dispensing fee states that the pharmacist's fee may not exceed R6 plus 46 percent of the single exit price (SEP) for medicines that cost less than R75. For medicines or scheduled substances costing between R75 and R199.95, the fee may not exceed R15 plus 33 percent of the SEP. Where the SEP is greater than or equal to R200 but less than R700, the dispensing fee shall not exceed R51 plus 15 percent of the SEP. For medicines that cost R700 or more, the dispensing fee must not be more than R121 plus 5 percent of the SEP.
