oa SA Pharmaceutical Journal - My teaching philosophy and practices : cum laude

Abstract

My teaching philosophy and practice is driven by designing and executing a paedagogy in every learning encounter that will inspire, empower and encourage students, and motivate them to become better learners and ultimately better pharmacists. In this, I have been described by my students as passionate, meticulous, creative and enthusiastic in the way in which I present and prepare my material and lectures. Instead of focusing on a particular teaching technique, I utilise numerous tools and techniques to stimulate maximum learning in my students, and have thereby been developing my own skills as a university teacher. This journey towards finding the best teaching practices has motivated and inspired me to produce pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists who can learn independently and apply knowledge creatively.
