Abstract

Travel, both local and international, is undertaken by a large and ever-increasing number of people for professional, social, recreational and other purposes. More people travel greater distances and at greater speeds than ever before, and this trend is set to continue. Thus, travellers are exposed to a variety of health risks in unfamiliar environments. Most risks can be minimised by taking suitable precautions before, during and after travelling. This article provides a short review of travel health, focusing of traveller's diarrhoea, motion sickness, bites and stings, malaria and travel vaccinations.
