Abstract

The tribe Cryptochilini consists of four subtribes, of which three are monotypical. The subtribe Cryptochilina comprises eight genera and 122 species which mostly occur in the western part of Southern Africa, from southern Angola to the western Cape. These beetles are strongly dependent on rainfall and green vegetation and adults may appear for a short time when favourable conditions prevail.
