Abstract

The cases here considered have been ascribed to polyvasculitis, conceived to be a disease in which acute, subacute or chronic lesions arise, in blood vessels of any size, or combinations of vessels, in any order, in any tissue or combination of tissues over a period of time, whether long or short, and whether continuous or interrupted. On this basis it is here proposed that lung purpura with nephritis, Goodpasture's syndrome with arteritis, Wegener's granulomatosis, polyarteritis nodosa and possibly Ceelen's syndrome as well are clinical states which have been selected for presence of certain features from a vascular disease of protean manifestations.
