Abstract

(1) Acute non-specific polyarthritis was the most common affection of the joints encountered in this study on patients admitted to an African medical unit. (2) Rheumatic fever and acute gonococcal arthritis were not uncommon. (3) Rheumatoid arthritis was seen occasionally. (4) Gout and abortus fever were rare.
