Abstract

Forty-three uncomplicated filtering operations were carried out on Africans suffering from chronic simple glaucoma, with fields of vision reduced to three degrees to 10 degrees and fairly good visual acuity. Only in four instances reexamination a short time after the operation demonstrated further constriction of the field, and in three cases the visual acuity dropped to a mild degree. In no case complete field obliteration developed.
