Abstract

In Rhodesia due to long distances, therefore limited radiological services, there has been an unavoidable necessity to set up small X-ray units all over the country. This has inevitably led to them being used by people either completely untrained or with less knowledge of the hazards of radiation than is available in the larger centres. This, the first of two articles, will, it is hoped, be a means of pointing out to all people who may use X-ray equipment the hazards of radiation, meanwhile suggesting practical methods by which better results can be obtained to benefit both the practitioner and the patient.
