Abstract

Lead poisoning, usually resulting from industrial exposure to lead compounds, can present in a variety of ways and can closely mimic the acute abdomen, myopathy and neuropathy, including encephalopathy. Identification of the lead line on the gingival margin can be vitally important in distinguishing lead poisoning from other medical emergencies as these case histories show.
