Abstract

Generally speaking in dermatology our knowledge of a disease varies inversely to the amount written about it. We do not know very much about acne but Samuel Frank has written a book of over 400 pages about it (Frank, 1971). From this hypothesis it might be assumed that we know all about scabies since it is no longer the subject of many articles. There are, however, several blind spots 'in our knowledge and, as the world is suffering from a pandemic of this disease at present, it might be profitable to examine what we know and what we do not know about the malady.
