Abstract

Shock caused by diverse factors seriously interferes with substrate and oxygen supply to the cell. Glycogen in the Liver is rapidly depleted and an attempt is made to catabolise tissue protein and fat to manufacture glucose. However, gluconeogenesis itself is impaired in shock.
