Abstract

A typical case of sarcoidosis seen in an African female at Harare Hospital is presented. It is emphasised that she was initially misdiagnosed as tuberculosis. The features of the disease in seven other patients seen over an eight year period are discussed and compared with sarcoidosis as seen in Europe and America. Sarcoidosis is an uncommon disease in the Rhodesian African but should be considered as a cause of bilateral pulmonary mottling or hilar lymphadenopathy on chest X-ray.
