Abstract

A case of haemolytic disease of the newborn is descriptionbed in which exchange transfusion was required and in which the post-transfusion blood film in the infant resembled chronic lymphatic leukaemia. This led to the blood donor being traced and it was established that she was in fact suffering from chronic lymphatic leukaemia. Fifteen months following the incident, the baby was found to be in good health with a normal blood picture and there was no evidence of engraftment.
